Hello Internet Welcome to my channel See the World with Salil It’s evening 4 PM We are in Nepal – Kathmandu We had some rest at the hotel And now we are of to see some parts of Nepal Our guide Sooraj is also with us We are going to a place called Thamel Thamel is similar to the Broadway we have in Kochi, Kerala We are looking to get a Sim Card and Currency Exchange right now We don’t have any Nepal Rupee now… have to exchange some Indian Rupee So that’s why we are here now And this place as you all can see Has small small Guest Houses, Hotels Travel Agencies And this is also a Pre Base Camp Because Mountaineers can get all the necessary gears from here And then there are souvenir shops Thamel is made up of all these shops Roads are like small gully’s Most roads are traffic free, but still The main roads have all 4 & 2 wheelers When we think about Kathmandu.. we imagine a city covered in snow Even I thought it was like that before, but This is like a north indian city With enough traffic and dust all around Another feature about Thamel is that the nightlife is more active This is a place that has a lot of Pubs and Clubs So for those who enjoy nightlife, Thamel will be a perfect option So we got the sim card and exchanged money, if we have Indian money in 50s and 100s it will be easier And now we are heading to Swayambhunath Temple This place is called Swayambhunath Temple A really good of Kathmandu can be seen from here And here as you can see if coins are thrown at the statue It is said to grant our wishes Many people are throwing coins Inside that is all the coins that has been thrown This place is also called the Monkey Temple Because there are, a lot of monkeys here This is the Swayambhunath Stupa It has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site After the 2015 earthquake The reworks are still going on as you all can hear in the background One of the specialities of this is that, it is a combination of both Hindu and Buddhist Religions As you can see one of the stupa is a Hindu related and the other Buddhist From Kathmandu it is about 4 kms to this place Local buses and also taxis are available The direction will be North-West from Kathmandu City This place has been here since the 5th century You all must love the movie Yodha(Malayalam Movie) acted brilliantly by Mohanlal and Jagathy Most of the scenes in the movie has been shot in this location If you all can remember the scenes Scenes where Mohanlal is being captured, has been shot in many locations around the Swayambhunath Stupa This is Dipankara Buddha This statue was made in the 7th century and it has been made from a single stone Even now it still looks so beautiful That is the beauty of Dipankara Buddha The Stupa is surrounded by prayer wheel’s What is written on the prayer wheel’s is
“Om mani padme hum” It’s written in the Nepali Language It’s also called newar This is the view of Kathmandu Valley Kathmandu is really large city There are not much high rise building’s like in Kochi But still areawise,… it’s huge, The view is clear beacause the climate is pretty good It has been said that when parent’s come and pray here, all the difficulties of their children will be gone So mostly parent’s come here to pray for their children The inside of the temple cannot be recorded, hence showing the top view It’s almost evening, so the shop’s are closing Buddhist Child Monks are are studying in that area We have seen this costume in many Malayalam movies From the movie Yodha (Malayalam Movie) we can see a lot of the kids like our Akoshetan here Check out what happened when i focussed my camera on that little monk He knows we are focussing on him so beacause he became more active in his study We are tired because we have been travelling from morning, so we included only Swayambhunath Stupa in today’s itinerary So we are ending today’s trip, and we will have more tomorrow It;s morning and we are here at the Domestic Terminal, We are heading directly to Pokhara, from the domestic terminal And we are going in Yeti Airlines The flying time is 25 minutes It’s a small aircraft Those are international… International….. Departures Boarding Pass for Yeti Airlines There are also other local airlines, like Buddha Air Summit Air, Yeti….. This is the Kathmandu Domestic Departure Terminal Another problem here is sometimes flight’s get cancelled because of the weather Which we just saw in the previous board Flight has been cancelled due to bad weather I just mentioned, there are a lot of airlines here, Yeti, Buddha Small aircrafts
Also there are helicopter services available here We can view the Mount Everest in the helicopter And also… People can go to the base camp in the helicopter to spend 10-15 minutes is provided by them We had to wait at the airport terminal for sometime Our flight Yeti Airlines, was late, we waited. But soon an annoucement came, and everyone was taken in the bus towards the flight The bus was not so well maintained We got to know later that this flight, was returning back from a scenic flight around the everest and the passengers are stepping out after the journey, holding some pictures, like souvenirs So this flight, is used to go around the Mt. Everest But this flight is now to Pokhara Yeti Airlines Was owned by Sherpa who is from Nepal After Buddha Air, the most domestic services are done by Yeti Airlines They have ATR flights….. and also the British Airspace Jetstream flight’s Our flight to Pokhara is a Jetstream type flight Seating capacity is around 30 plus 2 pilots and the Cabin Crew We can see a lot of small flight’s here in Kathmandu They are also for mountain excursions The Yeti Airlines flight is called the Everest Express Which goes to view the Everest And there are also flight’s to Annapurna, called Annapurna Express Because of the land variations here, we can see mostly air strips here instead of a lot of airports Which is why they have a lot of small aircrafts The Everest Express has a running time of 1 hour and we found out that they charge 8000 rupees per person This is the first time I am travelling in a small aricraft To be truthful, I am a bit scared inside Because I have read about bad weather conditions affecting smaller flight’s, anyways let’s see Pokhara City is 200 kms away from Kathmandu It’s the 2nd largest city in Nepal In the case of population and areawise it’s 2nd largest We can also by road and flight By road, it takes 8-9 hours and also the roads are bad Kathmandu to Pokhara Traffic Jams are also a lot So we will lose an entire day travelling by road But we can see the views by road What’s special in Pokhara is The one and only Mountain Museum is in Pokhara Then there’s a lake, Phewa Lake, a temple, Devils Falls World Peace Pagoda, these are the location’s in our current list And it’s also the best place for adventure tourism Paragliding, Zipline, Bungee Jumping are the famous ones Many europeans love to stay in Pokhara Anyways we will have more from Pokhara in the next video, until then Goodbye
