Baseball – Xavier Series Preview (2020)

The Ole Miss Baseball Team
has won three of their first four games
to begin the 2020 campaign, and they’ll look to keep
rolling this weekend with the Xavier Musketeers
coming to Oxford. Last weekend was electric. After dropping
Friday night’s tilt, Ole Miss bounced back to take
Saturday and Sunday, taking the series against
the nation’s number one team, Louisville. With the wins, Ole Miss improved
to 5-and-0 in home series against number one team
under Mike Bianco. The weekend introduced us
to Cael Baker, the 2019 junior college
Player of the Year had a whopper of an opening
weekend in a Rebel uniform. Baker went 5 for 12,
with 5 runs driven in, including
two home runs on Saturday. He became the first Rebel
since Cody Overbeck in 2008 to have a multi-homer outing within
the first two games of a season. For his performance, Baker was
named SEC co-player of the week and was given the Golden Spike
Performance of the Week Award. Junior shortstop
Anthony Servideo is also swinging a big six. The Jupiter, Florida,
native has reached based in all four games
this season, with two zingers,
including a 10th inning walk-off against Alcorn State
on Wednesday night. Last weekend at Swayze
was rowdy, and we hope the second weekend
of 2020 is just as fun. Can’t wait to see you
all at the ballpark as the Rebels
look to get the best of Xavier.
