Beach handball star Ekaterina Koroleva dead aged 20 after drowning in pond at Euros

RUSSIAN star Ekaterina Koroleva has tragically died in Poland following the European Beach Handball Championship  The female player – who was just 20-years-old – was found drowned in a pond near the game courts in Stare Jablonki     Koreleva was found shortly after the tournament ended yesterday.  In a statement, the Russian Handball Federation said: “The RHF regrets to announce the death of Ekaterina Koroleva, the player of the national beach handball team  “According to preliminary data, Ekaterina Koroleva drowned in a pond near the game courts  “Ekaterina Koroleva was born on October 8, 1998 in Krymsk.  “From the age of 15 she was engaged in handball, until recently she played for the “Stavropol region” in the position of the left fielder, was involved in the youth national team of Russia  “The Handball Federation of Russia expresses its deepest condolences to the relatives and friends of Catherine MOST READ IN SPORT MOST READ IN SPORT  “We grieve with you.”  They also revealed that representatives of the RHF are assisting law enforcement agencies to find out how the incident happened  And they are also in constant communication with members of the Russian delegation
