Bridgewater Baseball Knocked Out of ODAC Playoffs by #1 RMC

The Bridgewater College baseball team was
knocked out of the ODAC playoffs in two games by the #1 ranked team in the country, falling
17-7 and 17-3 at Randolph-Macon. The Eagles had to try to battle back in the
opener after giving up six runs in the first inning. That run included a Reece Yeargain RBI single
and then a three-run home by Grant Huckenstein to make it 6-0. Bridgewater got back into the game immediately
though, starting with a Brett Jones homer to left field in the second inning. Jake Bailey knocked in Jacob Talley, then
scored on Kevin Nevedo’s sacrifice fly, still in the second inning, to make it 6-3. Nevedo got the Eagles closer with a homer
to left field that made it 6-4 Randolph-Macon. The freshman continued his big game with a
triple in the 6th inning. He scored on Austin Batten’s single up the
middle, but the Yellow Jackets had stretched their lead to 11-6 by that point. Chris King would also homer in Game 1, but
the Macon offense was too much in both contests, pulling away in the opener and easily winning
game 2 to end Bridgewater’s 2018 campaign.
