CHAD BASTIAN: Hi, this is Chad Bastian, welcome
to Expert Village. We’re here to talk about the trike buggy and PPG triking with paragliders.
I call this an emergency take off or an accidental launch. If you give too much throttle and
the glider is out of balance, you can sometimes just kick the whole thing into the air and
this is really very unacceptable for trike flying because eventually, it’s going to become
an emergency or an accident. And we really don’t want to do that so we want to avoid
that at all cost. We want to gain this skill of taxiing, balancing and settling the glider
overhead and then squeeze the throttle all the way up to full throttle and lift off.
It’s real critical that we get the both the glider and the trike on the same runway. As
soon as they’re balanced, we can go from this midrange and squeeze it right on up and lift
off into the air. If it’s not balanced and we try a lift off, we’re going to end up rolling
the trike over or worse, chewing it up in the propeller.
