CHAD BASTIAN: Hi, this is Chad Bastian, welcome
to Expert Village. We’re here to talk about the trike buggy and PPG triking with paragliders.
Alright, in this clip, we’re going to talk about controlling altitude. Paragliders are
really unique aircraft in that it’s always gliding down if there’s no power. So if we
had power, that swings us out, you gain an altitude and angle of attack, altitude towards
the ground that’s going to allow you to climb. So, whenever we add throttle, we climb. And
when we bring throttle down to midrange, we can level out. And to come back down, we literally
just come down to idle and then the glider glides back to the ground. So we control our
altitude pretty much exclusively in calm conditions with the throttle. Full throttle is a climb.
Somewhere in the midrange is level and letting the glider or letting the throttle off to
just the idle position or killing the motor will allow us to glide down.
