How to Play Cricket : How to Play a Hook Shot in Cricket

Hi, this is Ash on behalf of Expert Village.
Today we will talk about Cricket. In this clip I’m going to tell you how to play a hook
shot. A hook shot can be the only option for a batsman where in the baller has balled the
bouncer, or if the ball is coming and it’s just tight, and either he may defend the ball
or he may score, or get front of the ball by hitting the hook shot. The ball typically
would come at a chest level or above. So once he has the ball, you go on the back foot,
transfer your weight there, take your other foot back, and hit the shot behind the stands.
Now this is typically a lofted shot behind the stands. Let’s see this shot in real time.

  1. Youngsters watching this, please leave. This idiot's blathering diarrhoea is actually teaching young bastmen how to get out quicker. And this is the last thing we need.

Please youtube Masterclass Batting Tips and watch Michael Slater explain how to play the hook shot well.

  2. boomshankar…well said…real ass type video that was not a hook…..that would what afridi do had he got a short ball on his balls….

  3. Please do not mislead ppl, if u take right foot that much back u will never be able to time the ball playing HOOK, seems like u just never played real cricket. if you dont know please do not mislead ppl,

  4. This is not good enough – the batsman should be planting his front foot and then keeping it still whilst he plays the hook. He keeps moving it until it ends up in some weird position. Kids, get a qualified coach to show you how to do this properly.

  5. Damn it! Some of these expert village "batsmen" should be padded up and sent to face Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel. I'd love to see how many hook shots they end up playing!
