MICHAEL VAUGHAN’s 2019 Ashes Third Test Preview and Betting Tips | William Hill Cricket

Right, Headlingley. Third Test. The Aussies still 1-0 up. After that Jofra Archer spell you felt that the whole series has suddenly swayed towards England. That’s as quick as I’ve seen. As quick as I’ve seen for many, many years. I remember a Mitchell Johnson spell in 2013. Shioab Ahktar. Big Steve Harmison got a few through at a few occasions. Freddie Flintoff. Dale Steyn. Wasim Akram. Well it was right up there, if not a little bit quicker. Jofra Archer single-handedly has changed the course of this Ashes series. England arrive at Headingley. No Steve Smith. I think that’s a sensible move. Steve Smith not playing this week. Marnus Labuschagne he looked like a good young player so he’ll step in for Steve Smith. If I was Australia I’d play Marcus Harris at the top of the order. I’d also change David Warner around. Khawaja should open, Warner should go into the middle. His record in England opening the batting’s not great. I think he averages just about 13 or 14 in the first innings, so why would you allow Stuart Broad to go at him again with that new ball? I’d put Warner into the middle, Marnus to number three, Marcus Harris to join Khawaja at the top. They probably won’t, but there’s a little bit of a thought. England – I’d change their batting line-up
as well. Joe Root has to go back to number four. Jason Roy goes to three. Joe Denley to open. And that would be all I’d change this week. I think we might see either Pattinson back or Starc back for Australia. I’d go for Pattinson. I think they might hit fire with fire this week. I think it might be pace versus pace. The Aussies might go all at England. So England better get ducking and weaving as well. Leading scorer for England this week, I’m going for Joe Root. On his home ground, Joe Root. If he moves to four. If he’s at three – nah. If he’s at four – I’m going Joe Root. If not, Jonny Bairstow. Batting for Australia, I’m gonna go Travis Head. Think he’s due a big score, he’s looked nice in control at number five, so Travis Head for Australia. Bowling – Cummings for Australia, no surprise there. You’d think I’d say Jofra Archer. I’m not going to cos I think Chris Woakes has to bowl more overs. And it’s a Chris Woakes style week, little bit of nibble at Leeds. England will win. It’ll be 1-1 going to Old Trafford with two to play. The Aussies only need one good week in the remaining three to retain those Ashes, but I don’t think it’s going to be this week. Ta-ra.
