  1. Glinda:
    I've heard it said
That people come into our lives
    For a reason
    Bringing something we must learn
And we are led to those
Who help us most to grow if we let them
And we help them in return
    Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
    Because I knew you
Like a comet pulled from orbit
    As it passes the sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
    Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better
    But because I knew you
I have been changed for good
    Elphaba:
    It well may be
That we will never meet again
    In this lifetime
So, let me say before we part
    So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
    You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have rewritten mine
    By being my friend
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a sky bird
    In a distant wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better
    But because I knew you
    Glinda:
    Because I knew you
    Together:
I have been changed for good
    Elphaba:
And just to clear the air
    I ask forgiveness
For the things I've done, you blame me for
    Glinda:
    But then I guess
We know there's blame to share
    Together:
And none of it seems to matter anymore
G:Like a comet pulled from orbit
(E:like a ship blown from its mooring)
    G:As it passes the sun
(E:by a wind off the sea)
    G:Like a stream that meets a boulder
    (E:like a seed dropped by a bird)
    G:Halfway through the wood
    (E:in the wood)
Who can say if I've been changed for the better
I do believe I have been changed for the better
    Glinda:
    And because I knew you

    For good
(I LOVE THE LYRICS SO MUCH)

  2. To be performed by Selena Gomez and Taylor….in some manageable key, cause there’s no way that pairing could manage the original key…just sayin….

  3. I Love that they have remained friends and supportive. Of each other through all these time. An iconinc female duo that respectos each other

  4. I’ve seen Wicked in person 3 times even in San Francisco where it started but the best cast was on broadway with these two wonderful women. Just an amazing performance. 💚

  5. i love this so much because when they sing this on the original recording or in the show, their singing to each others character. now, years later, without the show, the song is just as emotional but instead of elphaba and glinda, its just Kristin and Idina and it shows how much their bond has grown over time

  6. Thanks Wicked for this song. I’m going through some change now. And I hope it’s for the better but I can’t say for sure

  7. I'm not crying………oh, hell……………WE'RE ALL CRYING!!!!

(Can I please have what book that pianist is playing from?)

  8. This takes me back to Reflections… a performance evening the night before high school graduation. Two best friends did a beautiful duet performance of this song and I’ve loved it ever since. Also, who is cutting onions?

  9. I would love it if they were in the movie in some way or another. After all their voices were what helped make these characters come to life. they brought these songs to life before we ever heard them and will forever be 2 of the best witches the stage will ever see.

  10. Charlie! Let’s do a cover this in a more ideal key, but as close to the original as possible, dibs on being Idina Menzel…. with our range we could likely do it in the original key, but I don’t think it would sound as good as it would in a lower key that would have it be primarily in our chest voices…

  11. 3:12
Elphaba got the lower harmony and Glinda had the top harmony throughout the entire musical, but this song, they switched. They have truly changed each other, and it's shown not only through the lyrics, but also a simple harmony

  12. I will never forget hearing this song performed live for the first time. I was in London watching the play for the first time. I bought a ticket last minute and sat with an obstructed view all my myself. I couldn't hold back my tears when this song was performed. Such a beautiful, powerful testiment to friendship.

  13. I just moved across the country, about 8 months ago, and my best friend from my home, just sent me this and said it reminded him of us. I was exhausted from my week, and the first thing he told me when we called earlier was that this song remined him of us. ❤😭

  14. I love this version but I was just searching for the very wicked Halloween one with all the other elphabas and glindas and it doesn't seem to be up anymore 😱 HELP

  15. Can’t listen to this song without tearing up. Such a great, beautiful, and breathtaking song, especially when it’s sung by these two beauties. ❤️⚡️❤️⚡️❤️⚡️❤️

  16. I've heard it said

That people come into our lives for a reason

    Bringing something we must learn

    And we are led

To those who help us most to grow

    If we let them

And we help them in return

    Well, I don't know if I believe that's true

But I know I'm who I am today

    Because I knew you…

Like a comet pulled from orbit

    As it passes a sun

Like a stream that meets a boulder

    Halfway through the wood

Who can say if I've been changed for the better?

    But because I knew you

I have been changed for good

    :

    It well may be

That we will never meet again

    In this lifetime

So let me say before we part

    So much of me

Is made of what I learned from you

    You'll be with me

Like a handprint on my heart

And now whatever way our stories end

I know you have re-written mine

    By being my friend…

Like a ship blown from its mooring

By a wind off the sea

Like a seed dropped by a skybird

    In a distant wood

Who can say if I've been changed for the better?

    But because I knew you

    :

    Because I knew you

    :

I have been changed for good

    :

And just to clear the air

    I ask forgiveness

For the things I've done you blame me for

    :

But then, I guess we know

    There's blame to share

    :

And none of it seems to matter anymore

    :

Like a comet pulled from orbit

    As it passes a sun

Like a stream that meets a boulder

    Halfway through the wood

    :

Like a ship blown from its mooring

By a wind off the sea

Like a seed dropped by a bird in the wood

    :

Who can say if I've been

    Changed for the better?

I do believe I have been

    Changed for the better

    :

    And because I knew you…

    :

    Because I knew you…

    :

    Because I knew you…

I have been changed for good…

  17. Is it just me? Or has Kristin's voice gotten raspier over the years? No hate; I absolutely love her singing, I just don't think her voice goes as well with Idina's as it did in the original shows/recordings?
Ik this is an unpopular opinion, go easy on me lmao

I'd like to add that, regardless, this is still THE timeless duo. Much love to both of them.

  18. Too bad, in Frozen 2 the sisters have to part for good.

Well, at least Elsa gets to visit Arendelle frequently, courtesy of the House of Mouse!

  19. I swear… Kristin Chenoweth must speak in vibrato.
I really don't think Idina Menzel has as much control and discipline when singing live after being on Broadway for so many years. I love her voice so much!! I just wish I loved her live as much as I did on soundtrack or when she's singing with a more disciplined sound. She sings very lazy lately.

  20. This is not a judgement or an insult but it appears you sing better if you have a wider bottom jaw. They have similar mouth shapes. I wonder if that's why they sound so well together? They're both so beautiful. Kristy is a peanut☺️

  21. Tbh, I'm a little mad that Kristin didn't make a speech at Idina's Star Ceremony… could've been the perfect combination, much like Wicked.

  22. The film adaptation of Wicked, the long-running Wizard of Oz spinoff musical that first hit Broadway in 2003, has been given a release date by Universal, the studio said Friday. The movie, to be directed by Stephen Daldry, is set to hit theaters on Dec. 22, 2021

  23. my best friend died a few years ago, and this was played at her funeral. when someone really changes you… really burns their way into your soul, it does change you for good. learn to recognize those people before it's too late.

  24. Wow. Two professionals know how to sing and how to sing together.
With only a piano. Stunning. A heartfelt beautiful song.

  25. oh my god we played this at my old school that i spent pre k to 7th grade in and this song brings back all the memories imma cry rq hold up

  26. just listened to a west wing weekly podcast episode where they interviewed kristen, and she said she sang this song at john spencer's funeral.

  27. God that moment at 1:37 when Kristen looks at Idina and says “I have been changed for good” the genuine smile from Idina is heart warming!
