Paraglider killed in Fort Pierce


A MAN WHO TRIED TO HELP. TED: THAT’S RIGHT. IT IS A HEARTBREAKING STORY. ST. LUCIE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES HAVE BEEN HERE FOR MORE THAN THREE HOURS NOW. THE CRASH SITE IS A FEW HUNDRED YARDS SOUTH OF THE SANDY ENTRANCE TO THE BEACH. A MAN WAS PARAGLIDING IN THE AREA BUT WITNESSES SAY THAT WAS A BIG PROBLEM WHILE HE WAS HUNDREDS OF FEET IN THE AIR. THE CRASH HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER 1:00. PARAMEDICS FOUND A RAN WRAPPED UP IN THE PARAGLIDER AND HE DIED AT THE SCENE. HE SAYS THE MAN WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH A PARAGLIDER, LANDED, THEN TOOK OFF AGAIN. A FEW MINUTES LATER AT SOME POINT THE MAN LOST SAIL AND FELL ABOUT 200 FEET TO THE GROUND.>>BY THE TIME I GOT THERE I WAS OUT OF BREATH. WE CALLED 911. TED: WITNESSES SAY THE MAN WAS NOT MOVING.
