Steve Harmison’s England XI

There’s a difference between what would be my first XI, and who will be in the XI that’s going to play… I think the XI that will play will be Cook and Stoneman, Vince batting at three… I’d personally like Jonny Bairstow to potentially bat three. He’s a better short ball player than he was… When he first came into the England team. He’s in arguably the form of his life. But Vince will bat three, Root will bat four. Looks like Malan is going to bat five. And then you’ve got Bairstow at six. Moeen Ali seven. Woakes will play at eight. Broad will play nine… We’ll leave number 10 out. And go with Anderson at 11. It depends on what England feel… I think England would like to have played Jake Ball if he hadn’t got the injury. I personally would be tempted… Even though the stats don’t go that way of many spin wickets in Brisbane, i’d be tempted by Mason Crane… Because I know i’ve got three seamers who are absolute bankers. I know for a fact that Woakes, Anderson… And Broad have got no question marks. He’s my little trump card who will get the tail out. A little bit like Mitchell Starc does. Runs up and bowls big swinging yorkers at 90mph… Pat Cummins will try and bowl with aggression and blow England’s tail away. I’d be surprised if they did that… I think England will go safe. Overton, or if they think Ball is fit, then Ball. But Steve Harmison would have probably gone with Mason Crane.
