Taylor surpasses mentor Crowe’s century tally | Daily Cricket News

Hello and welcome to ESPNCricinfo. I am NIkhil Naz. Our top stories from the world of cricket today are Ross Taylor goes past Martin Crowe with record 18th Test century, Hashim Amla returns to the South Africa squad for the final two ODIs against Sri Lanka and PCB takes strong notice against India’s army caps. Ross Taylor went past his mentor Martin Crowe’s century tally of 17 in the 2nd Test against Bangladesh. Taylor had equalled Crowe’s record in December 2017 against West Indies. It has been more than a year long wait for Ross Taylor to go past his mentor. Taylor converted his 18th century into a double- hundred, also crossing Crowe’s record for most runs at a venue in New Zealand. Hashim Amla and Aiden Markram will return to South Africa’s squad for the remaining ODIs against Sri Lanka. JP Duminy is also in line to play his first international game after four-and-a-half months as South Africa look to put the finishing touches to their squad ahead of the World Cup. Reeza Hendricks and Wiaan Mulder are the two players from the original squad who will sit the next two games out. The PCB has taken “strong notice” of India’s use of army camouflage caps during their third ODI against Australia in Ranchi, urging the ICC to take action against the BCCI. India wore the caps as a way to pay tribute to those killed in the terror attack in Pulwama last month. The BCCI had approached the ICC before going ahead with the plan, and the ICC confirmed to ESPNcricinfo that permission had been granted as it was part of a charity fundraising effort.
