UNI Volleyball’s 2019 MVC Awards


The UNI Volleyball team
claimed the Missouri Valley Conference regular
season title this year and now has their eyes set on
winning the MVC Tournament Title on their home court. While volleyball truly is
a team sport, here are some individual honors
that were handed out this week to some well
deserving student athletes. BRAD: UNI’s all-conference
selections begin with two earning a spot on the MVC
All-Freshman team. Emily Holterhau has
totaled 190 kills entering the conference tournament,
hitting 200 for a percentage. Her 18 solo blocks is
second most on the team. Kaylissa Arndorfer, also
lands on the All-Freshman team and doubled up the
awards with a 1st team All-MVC award. She was second on the team
with 73 blocks and finished third on the team
with 261 kills while her attack percentage of 325
led the team. Kate Busswitz, has earned
first team All-MVC honors after a 2nd team honor as
a sophomore. The Panther junior went
over the 300 kills mark for the first time in her
career, while her 69 blocks, included a team
high 19 solo stops. Senior Rachel Koop was
named to the MVC 1st Team for the second straight
season, and was named the MVC Setter of the Year. In this senior year, Koop
leads all of Division 1 volleyball with 1,362
assists on the year and climbed into the Top 10
UNI record books for career assists. Karlie Taylor earned 1st
team All-MVC honors becoming the 7th Panther
to earn 3 All-MVC honors. She did it on her best
year yet as Karlie was also named the MVC Player
of the Year in a year sending her to number
three on UNI’s career kills list. She is the first UNI
Panthers to total 500 kills in three different
seasons. UNI placed three on the
MVC Scholar-Athlete teams. Honorable mention honors
went to math & economics major Inga Rotto, while
landing on the first team scholar-athletes teams
were seniors Racehl Koop, a Psychology major and
Elementary Education major Abbi Staack. The UNI Panthers claimed
their 19th MVC Regular Season Title which is the
9th under head coach Bobbi Petersen, who rounds out
the awards, being named the MVC Coach of the Year
for the 6th time of her career. We are just getting

Panther of the Week is Trevor Allen. The senior rushed for a
season high 94 yards and two touch downs in the
38-7 victory over Western Illinois in the regular
season finale.
